Greetings from Bangkok! We’ve been here about four hours now and have had a little wander through some of the markets but we’re too tired to do anything proper. Our journey took about 26 hours in total, involving a six hour wait in Bahrain airport. There is very little to do besides drinking in the bar to avoid being ogled. However, we had a nice time over our bottle of Blue Nun, chatting to a couple from Brighton who were on their way back from Thailand and giving us advice. And of course there was the man from Kuwait sitting nearby who was getting somewhat involved. At first he took interest in Jess but swiftly moved onto me, whereupon he offered to pay for me to go to Kuwait to see him. He settled with giving me his phone number and making me promise to call (suffice to say I will not call). He then started asking names and seemed to find the fact that mine and Vicki’s names rhyme quite amusing, so I managed to convince him that Jess’ name was Sticky. Genius. He kept calling her Sticky and she’d reply! It’s her own fault if you ask me.
So all in all we didn’t get a great deal of kip thanks to arseholes in front of us and a large number of rather annoying children on the plane. We did get free socks and eye masks though. Little comfort to me who now has legs like elephants because the flights made her ankles swell up. Super. Anybody know any cures?
